Four levels of competency

I thought I would set up my own personal meter for "measuring" my progress in this learning environment. I am using the four levels of competency as my model which goes as follows:

level 1 - Unconsciously incompetent
At this level, you are totally ignorant of how ignorant you really are.
First foot in the stirrup or the first time you have actually encountered a horse on the end of a string.
level 2 - Consciously incompetent
You have caught up to how much you need to learn and may feel a bit intimidated but this step is really the toughest to jump over.
You can approach, saddle and maybe mount your horse.
level 3 - Consciously competent
OK, you can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel, you look forward to the learning process.
You can walk trot AND canter your horse.
level 4 - Unconsciously competent
This one totally sneaks up on you. When you stop asking so many questions and just unconsciously begin to feel the tasks, then this is the level that you are most likely at.
You can walk, trot, canter and gallop your horse without even consciously being aware of it.

OK, I have used this model for years and actually first read about it in a (yeah you guessed it) a book on horse training. At this point in my learning 2.0 I am going to say that I totally skipped level 1 and moved directly on to level 2. I am feeling confident and secure in my consciously incompetent mode and look forward to level 3 in this whole process.
